Erectile Dysfunction - Understand Viagra, Cialis, Levitra & Your Health

As we mentioned in previous articles with either mental or physical stimulation, your brain signals the nerve ending in the penis to release nitric oxide. Nitric oxide relaxes or dilates blood vessels, enabling them to open up and bring more blood to the penis and helping to create an erection. In this article, we will discuss the effects of viagra, cialis and levitra, and your health. Please do not assume that you are healthy. In fact, erectile dysfunction and low sexual desire are good indications of some kind of sickness in your body. Please consult with you doctor before taking viagra, cialis and levitra.

1.Viagra

A drug used to treat erectile dysfunction. Viagra contains phosphodiesterase inhibitors, also called sildenafil, helping to dilate small blood vessels and relaxes muscles of the penis resulting in stronger and harder erection. Viagra's effects happen in 30 minutes and last for 5 hours.

Since Viagra helps to increase blood flow to the penis , it is easy to understand if overdosed, it may cause blood vessels to rupture especially small blood vessels in the eyes and cause danger to people with clogged arteries (high levels of cholesterol), high blood pressure and diabetes because of hardening and thickening arterial walls.

Here are some side effects of Viagra: flushing, headaches, nasal congestion, blurred vision, and dizziness.

2.Cialis

Cialis contains the ingredient tadalafil which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor. Following sexual simulations, cialis tadalafil works by helping nitric oxide relax or dilate blood vessels, enabling them to open up and bring more blood to the penis and helping to create an erection. Cailis is used to treat men who experience difficulty having and maintaining an erection to orgasm.

Cialis works in as quickly as 30 minutes and lasts for about 36 hours while Viagra effect lasts up to 5 hours. Cialis is not affected by food or beverages.

Same as Viagra, if you have high cholesterol levels there is a good chance that some of the blood vessels in your penis are being clogged up, therefore increasing the blood flow to the blood vessels causes more harm than good may result in ruptured vessels and heart disease.

If you have high blood pressure, increased blood flow will cause your heart to work harder and may result in heart disease.

It is the same for people with diabetes.

The side effects of Cialis includes shortness of breath, and wheezing or difficulty breathing.

3. Levitra

Levitra contains vardenafil and is an oral therapy for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Vardeanfil relaxes muscles and increases blood flow to the penis resulting in firming of erection. You take Levitra right before you want to have sex. Within about an hour, you will be able to get an erection in 16 minutes and wears off 6 hours after.

If you have high blood pressure, diabetes and high levels of cholesterol Levita may do more harm to your body because high blood pressure and diabetes causes your heart to work harder in providing blood flow to the penis, any arteries and blood vessels clogged up (caused by high cholesterol build up) will result in damage to your heart.

Side effects include facial flushing, indigestion or upset stomach, inflammation of the sinuses, dizziness, and flu like symptoms.

It would be better for your health to treat high blood pressure, high levels of cholesterol and manage your glucose level first before taking any of the above medications.

  1. Dear Blogger,

My name is Timothy Harwood and I am an Optometrist who has been practicing in the UK for over 7 years now. As a result of many of my patients complaining they found lots of the information about eye conditions and laser eye surgery confusing I decided to set up a website aimed at providing easy to understand information on eye health and laser eye surgery.

As a medical professional I often get asked about all different aspects of laser eye surgery. I came across your blog (which is excellently written) and wondered if you would be interested in me writing a guest post which may be of interest to your blog readers? I could write about any aspect of laser eye surgery or the eye in general?

Let me know what you think and also feel free to ask me any questions on laser eye surgery and I will try my best to answer them! . . . Otherwise keep blogging!

It would be great to hear from you,

    Warm regards

    Tim Harwood - Optometrist

  3. Five years ago, my friends pointed out how horrible my hair looked. They made me realise how poor the quality of my hair was. It was Christmas eve and I was so devastated. I decided to do something about it. I tried to find a solution to my problem on the internet. I found a website called hairextensionsale.com. This website offers a variety of solutions to match my hair type. I ordered wefts for myself. My order arrived a week later. It cost me about 49.99+shipping. I would recommend them to all.
